About
I originally hail from South Pasadena, California, but transplanted myself into Chicago in 2009 and thrived in Chicago’s bustling city life. I graduated cum laude from Loyola University Chicago with a B.A. in English and Creative Writing. Analyzing rhetoric through classic literature and modern poetry allowed me to look at creative works with an intensive, critical methodology.
I am a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago’s Digital Media & Storytelling program. As someone who now holds a “Master’s of Communication,” the only perk so far is calling myself “a master storyteller” and have it be factually correct.
One hobby turned into a full-time job: tea tasting. I worked at Adagio Teas State Street as a tea consultant. I can tell you how to brew a proper cup, tea across cultures, the diversity of tastes across the tea spectrum, and certain health benefits. Tea has become more than simply a beverage to be sipped, but has become an influential part of my personal philosophy. As with enjoying a cup of oolong tea through several steepings, it is important to take the time to thoroughly develop, unfurl, and thus enjoy a story.
Another important influence on my life is my 20 pound fat Siamese/Ragdoll named Boomstick. Our anniversary is October 10. His daily routine of lounging, stuffing his face with his favorite food, and sleeping anywhere is a gentle reminder to love even the most minor rituals, no matter how mundane it appears on the surface.
